SchoolWeb is built for Australian schools. We take privacy seriously — student data stays in Australia, is never sold, and is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.

Sky Network Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") operates SchoolWeb ("the Service"), a platform that provides school websites, content management, and operational tools for Australian schools.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
When schools register and use SchoolWeb, we collect:
Content created and managed by school staff through the platform includes:
Schools may store student and parent information as part of their day-to-day operations. The data categories collected are determined by each school's configuration and policies.
Important: We do not collect sensitive information such as health records, religious beliefs, or government identifiers unless a school explicitly configures a module to do so. Schools are responsible for ensuring appropriate consent is obtained before entering sensitive data.
We automatically collect limited technical information to operate and secure the Service:
We use collected information to:
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We do not serve advertisements to school users. We do not use school or student data to build advertising profiles.
SchoolWeb includes optional AI-assisted features (content writing, AI chatbot, page generation). When AI features are used:
Schools can disable AI features entirely through their administrator settings.
SchoolWeb is a self-hosted platform. When schools deploy SchoolWeb on their own infrastructure, the school is responsible for configuring AI provider connections, API credentials, and any associated data processing arrangements.
Schools that enable AI features are responsible for:
SchoolWeb's software is designed to minimise the data sent to AI providers — student personally identifiable information is excluded from AI requests where possible, and only the content necessary to generate the requested response is transmitted. However, the school's choice of AI provider and infrastructure determines the ultimate data processing and retention behaviour.
SchoolWeb does not use automated decision-making to make significant decisions about individuals. AI features are assistive tools that generate suggestions for staff review — no content is published, and no decisions about students are made, without human approval. SchoolWeb will comply with the automated decision-making transparency requirements under the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 as they take effect.
SchoolWeb is hosted in Australia. Some third-party services we use (such as AI providers and payment processors) may process limited data outside Australia. Where this occurs:
We implement layered, industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
For detailed information about our security controls, see our Security Policy.
Your data is stored on secure servers located in Australia. By keeping primary data within Australia, we support compliance with Australian privacy laws and education department data residency requirements.
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to any third party for commercial or marketing purposes, under any circumstances.
In accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988, we will:
Schools are encouraged to report suspected data incidents to [email protected] as soon as possible.
Schools can request a full export of their data at any time. Exports include:
Export requests are fulfilled within 30 days. Schools can also contact us at [email protected] to request early deletion or to discuss specific export requirements.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, individuals have the right to:
For school-managed data — such as student and parent records entered by school staff — the school is the first point of contact, as they are the controller of that data. We will cooperate fully with schools to fulfil individual rights requests.
SchoolWeb is provided to schools as an institutional platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Student data is entered and managed solely by authorised school staff.
Schools are responsible for:
Parents and guardians may contact their school directly to exercise rights relating to their child's data. We will cooperate fully with schools to fulfil these requests.
A downloadable consent template is available for schools at Consent Declaration Template.
We are monitoring the development of the OAIC Children's Online Privacy Code, which is expected to be registered by December 2026. SchoolWeb will update its practices to comply with the Code's requirements when it takes effect.
SchoolWeb is designed to support schools in meeting their obligations under the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and applicable state and territory Child Safe Standards. The platform incorporates safeguards including role-based access controls, explicit opt-in consent for publishing identifiable student content, no advertising or social features, and school-controlled AI settings.
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes only:
We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or behavioural profiling. No data collected via cookies is sold or shared with advertising networks.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or service features. Material changes will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Where changes materially affect how we handle school or student data, we will notify affected schools directly.
